The Conditions of the Heart: A Christian Reflection
The Bible speaks extensively about the heart—not just as the organ pumping blood but as the center of our emotions, will, and spiritual life. The condition of our hearts matters deeply to God, as it determines our thoughts, actions, and relationship with Him. The Bible describes the human heart as naturally inclined toward sin, a reality that reminds us of our need for God’s transformative work.

• Hebrews 3:8: “Do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness.”
• Ezekiel 36:26: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
God desires to replace our hardened hearts with hearts that are soft, responsive, and open to His guidance.
